Lottery Retailer Contracts
Lottery Retailer Contracts
Are you thinking of adding Florida Lottery to your store? We can help! According to the Florida Department of Lottery, an average lottery retailer will boost their sales by 11% annually. This increase in revenue also creates more foot traffic, and more purchases of other items.
That’s why your lottery retailer application is so important. Our firm offers free consultations regarding concerns or questions you may have about your application, or about transfers. Also, if you have questions about buying or selling a store that has a license, we offer business law services as well.
Application Denials
If the Florida Department of Lottery has denied your lottery retailer application, you may have the right to appeal that decision. Typically, the Department will deny contracts where any of the following circumstances exist:
- The applicant retailer is under the age of eighteen (18);
- The store is engaged exclusively in the sale of lottery tickets; or
- You or any co-applicant has been convicted of, or entered a plea of guilty or nolo contendere to a felony in the past ten (10) years.
If you do not fit into any of these categories, a denial of your application would be an error for the Department. Also, if your application was denied because of an old criminal case, we can help! Normally, we can help you reapply or appeal with any of the following:
- Seeking and applying for clemency;
- Demonstrating good citizenship standing within the community;
- The removal of unqualified persons from the business organization.
Lottery License Transfers
Normally, a lottery retailer’s license cannot be transferred. However, new officers and owners of an existing lottery retailer can file an application while the existing contract remains in effect. This method removes delays in licensing, and prevents the loss of business.
Do not make the mistake of keeping a lottery contract from a prior owner after you take over a store! It is a violation of the lottery regulations, and may result in a suspension or termination of your contract. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact us at your earliest convenience.
